The Cux 87 "Krabbenkutter" {part 8}

     Happy New Years everyone!  I hope everyone's transition into the New year was a smooth one.  I celebrated mine by going to bed early and working New Years day......ho-hum.  the Cux didn't get the attention it required during the holiday, so now I have to play "catch-up.  I thought I'd begin by finishing the pilot house wall planking.  I still had the back wall to do and wanted to complete it, before moving on to the completion of the waterways.  like the side windows, I intend to use the window frames to hold in the clear cello that I will use for  the glass.  after the frame parts were installed, i started on the wall siding.

      The wall planking continued until the entire wall was sided.  at the base of the house, molding would be later added to hide the slight imperfections that were sure to appear.

     Note that there are the thin gaps in between the windows.  they were later filled in with planking wood and the entire pilot house got re-stained to cover all the small cracks where the unfinished wood showed.  then it was lightly sanded and rubbed again with the stain cloth.  with the molding in place, the pilot house is complete, for the moment, until the windows, binnacle and roof is cemented on.  it time to get this hull on the road......it's got to see some paint soon, my first try with an airbrush.

       These pictures were taken with my new camera that I got for Christmas.  I know that some of them are a bit blurry.........it is going to take some getting used to.  my next couple build logs will suffer a little until I do, but it is a nice camera and after a little more reading up on it, I should be up to speed.     Ahoy!
